There are several aspects to look into when you consider buying a new mattress. Below are some of the basic questions that you may face:

Is it time to buy a new mattress?

Like any other object, mattresses and box springs also wear out. To find out if it is time to buy a new mattress, inspect several factors such as comfort and general state. It is time to buy a new mattress, if:

· You can feel the coils when lying on the mattress

· You wake up with a body ache that lasts through the day

· Your mattress starts creaking when you move around

· You tend to roll towards the middle of the bed

What are the factors to consider in a new mattress?

Support: A quality mattress will support your body at all points. It will keep your spine in its natural position as in a standing posture. Keep in mind that your body should be able to relax.

Comfort: This is a personal choice. While some prefer a firm feel, mattresses necessarily don’t have to be so. Latest mattresses are built with luxurious cushioning materials, creating a more plush feel.

Durability: Durability denotes how long the comfort and support will last. Like any other product, mattresses also wear out. The warranty protects you against defects and mistakes in workmanship. Warranty does not cover gradual loss of comfort over the years.

Size: Is the mattress to be used by a couple? Is it for the guest room? Make sure the new mattress is spacious enough to accommodate free movement, especially when you’re sleeping with your partner. For mattress dimensions, go to Mattresses.

Price: The smartest way to shop is to give priority to value, more than price. Always buy quality products made of new materials.

What to expect from your new mattress?

You may feel a slight discomfort with your new mattress for the first two weeks or so. This is quite normal as your body is used to the old mattress.

Upholstery layers in the new mattress have a certain amount of air in these materials. It also takes time for the new materials to settle down and conform to the shapes and curves of the body. During this time, creases or wrinkles may appear. This is common and is not a defect. It is recommended that the mattress is alternately turned once every two weeks for the first three months, and twice per year later on.

Use a proper frame. King or Queen sized bed needs to have a frame with center support.
